  • English Language Scholarship Programme (JKELSP) with John Keells Foundation

    The Programme targets school children from disadvantaged families and gives them the opportunity to learn to speak English confidently. This year also we have targeted students of the same background.

  • Higher education Scholarship Programme (JKELSP) for A/L students and university undergraduates in Pannala area in association with John Keells Foundation

    The Programme targets A/ L students and university undergraduates from disadvantaged families and gives them financial support to successfully complete their higher education.

    • Volunteer hours – 10 hours for initial application collecting process and scholarship distribution ceremony.
    • Number of beneficiaries – 12
  • Digital learning initiative among school children in Ja - Ela area in association with John Keells Foundation 

    The program facilitates online learning for economically disadvantaged schoolchildren by providing tabs and data packages for educational purposes. Under this initiative, in addition to providing the device and data packages to selected students, students’ educational progress was also monitored throughout the period in which the device is provided.

  • Organizing Mental health development session for school children, parents and teachers in G.B Senanayake Vidyalaya, Ekala 

    The program facilitates highlighting the importance of maintaining mental health in school children. Even it was mainly focused on school children, that was extended to aware parents and the teachers on how they can help children to achieve and sustain a state of good mental health to enjoy their life and environment and make them creative, learn, try new things, and take risks.

    • Volunteer hours – 25 hours for organizing the program and supporting during the session
    • Number of beneficiaries – 850
  • Combining with DS office Jaela and the John Keells Foundation, providing necessary seeds and fertilizers to the community to develop their home gardens to ensuring their need of foods.

    The program facilitates disadvantaged families to start cultivating vegetables in their homelands. The mail objective was to have a continuous supply of fruits and vegetable to full fill their daily food requirements.

    The Program aims to empower school children from disadvantaged families by providing them with the opportunity to learn English fluently. This year, we are extending our support to students from similar backgrounds, focusing on the following schools:

    • Kandanegedara Jinarathna Maha Vidyalaya
    • Nedalagamuwa Rahula Maha Vidyalaya
    • Bopitiya Maha Vidyalaya

    Through this initiative, we seek to equip these students with the essential language skills they need to thrive academically and professionally, breaking barriers and opening doors to brighter futures. We are committed to nurturing their confidence in English communication and fostering their overall educational development.

    A mushroom cultivation project was launched under John Keells Foundation Praja Shakthi – Jaela by John Keells Foundation & Keells Food Products Plc. This initiative aims to expand the number of mushroom farmers in Ja-ela to meet market demand while promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable income generation in the community.

  • Nutritional Awareness Programme (February 2024)

    John Keells Foundation together with Scaling Up Nutrition People’s Forum (Sun PF) conducted Nutional Awareness Programmes on 16th, 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th February 2024 in the below schools in Jaela area. This programme focuses on enhancing nutrition awareness and promoting sustainable practices.
